Nine-tailed fox, Caribbean calcite
-Basic information: Caribbean calcite is a unique combination of blue calcite and white or brown aragonite,
belonging to calcium carbonate minerals. It was first discovered in Pakistan in 2019, and although named “Caribbean”,
it is not produced in the Caribbean region,
but is named after its color and texture that resemble the beaches and waves of the Caribbean Sea.
-Appearance features: It has rich colors, including light blue, blue-green, white, beige, light brown,
etc., often presenting wavy or layered patterns. Stones are usually semi transparent to opaque,
with small cracks inside and sometimes containing clusters of calcite inclusions.
-Hardness: On the Mohs hardness scale, it is about 3, with a relatively soft texture that is easily scratched.
-Formation process: It is formed in a sedimentary environment,
where calcium rich water precipitates for a long time to form calcite, accompanied by layered sedimentation,
ultimately forming the unique texture and pattern of Caribbean calcite.
